Sleeveless Trench

Hey guys!  I wanted to share this simple look I wore a few weeks back.

I think it’s pretty obvious I have quite the fascination with sleeveless trenches/blazers (as seen here, here, here and here).  I love how effortlessly a sleeveless trench can add dimension to just about any outfit, from a tee-shirt and jeans, to a feminine little dress.  Versatile and always chic, the sleeveless trench is just the thing to help transition your style from summer to fall. Not to mention, it’s a great way for Miami-ans to embrace fall outerwear without suffering from heatstroke!

What are your favorite summer to fall transition pieces?

Escape Miami 3

Last weekend I attended the third annual Escape Miami Style Lounge & Pool Party organized by The Fashion Poet and all I can say is, damn that girl (Annie) sure knows how to throw a party!

As if spending the day with one of my dearest BFF’s (Jackie) wasn’t epic enough, we spent the day “VIP-ing” at the Shelborne Wyndham Grand while indulging in complimentary massages, makeup applications, nail and braid bars, henna and metallic tattoo applications and fashion illustrations by The Architect of Style.  Not to mention all the goodies up-for-grabs provided by pop-up shops from local brands and designers such as LYFE Brand (too cool for school), Love Strung (gorgeous jewelry), MIA Shoes (love them) and Flair Miami  (super fun Miami themed tees)!

And what would a swim week event be without a poolside fashion show? Local designers and boutiques such as DBrie, Bianca Colleti, Lume Swimwear and Please Don’t Tell Shop showcased this summers hottest trends in swim and casualwear!

You didn’t think I was going to let you all go without talking about “What I Wore” now did you?!

Anytime the dress code calls for fun, fearless and fashion forward, I put my stakes on Nasty Gal!  Before embarking on the search for the perfect Swim Week look, I had already decided that I wanted to wear all white (summer’s hottest trend). But most importantly, I wanted a look that would stand up to the unbearable Miami heat!

This “9 to 5 Cutout Blazer Dress” was the answer to my hot and sweaty prayers!  White, hot (resistant), sexy and chic all twisted into one! Thank you Nasty Gal, you never let me down!

Blush, Grey and Leopard

I simply cannot get enough of “Blush” these days and one of my favorite ways to pair this soft, neutral hue is by pairing it with my all-time favorite neutral, LEOPARD!  Yes, leopard is a neutral and if we can’t see eye to eye on that, then we may need to reevaluate this whole relationship.  :)

This A/X leopard print skirt pairs beautifully with shades of blush due to its perfect palette of leopard and grey- which happens to be my second favorite neutral to pair blush with.  Any shade of camel, tan or nude would come in third! I glammed up the look by adding gold details from neck to toe!

What do you think?

Animal (Print) Lover

As you may have perceived, I have always been a big fan of animal prints! I am guilty of possessing countless articles of clothing fully emblazoned with cheetah spots, leopard rosettes, zebra stripes and snake skin prints.  Now don’t go calling PETA on me! It’s faux! But the modern day animal print goes beyond “faux”. The latest trend in animal print is a bit more efficient, more animal friendly, if you will.

The animal prints I am currently loving are those that embrace the full animal, such as the Cardinal and Finch bird print blouse you see below.  More and more I am finding (and loving) animal prints made up of full bodied leopards, horses, peacocks, whales, etc. You’ve seen me in “full bodied animal” print before here and here and I am currently obsessed with anything with lobsters and flamingos on them, so get ready for that!

I paired this adorable bird print blouse with this amazing royal blue, asymmetrical skirt from one of my favorite online and pop-up boutiques, CONCRETE RUNWAY! I discovered Concrete Runway on Instagram and was amazed at the stellar quality of their inventory considering their very affordable pricing.  You’ve seen me wearing Concrete Runway pieces before here and here and for the next 25 days receive 25% off your Concrete Runway purchase by using coupon code: sunfunfashion25 at checkout!

Love her!

Work Style Wednesday: The Trouser

First of all let me just say that I am ecstatic to be a part of this fun and associative project alongside Nathalie of Earnestyle Blog!

As a part time blogger with a full time career outside of fashion, “work wear” pretty much governs the majority of my Monday – Friday style choices. I like to describe my personal work style as professional, yet playful.  While always keeping in mind my office dress code, I can’t ever resist adding a bit of color and flare to professional and structured pieces.

Today’s Work Style Wednesday look is the perfect example of how to add a little feminine flare to a work wear staple, the trouser.  Man or woman, the trouser is at the top of every working professional’s list of “must haves”.  And because trousers are so unisex, what better way of claiming a feminine stake on trousers than by adding a little bit (or a lot) of sparkle!

I absolutely love the fit of these Michael Kors Jogger Trousers, even though after breaking them in a bit I realized that they are a tad big on me.  Nothing a bit of tailoring can’t fix! Tailoring is a very important part of work style, it’s the difference between slouchy and polished.  Fortunately, my tailor is conveniently located directly across the street from my office!

I hope you all enjoyed my first Work Style Wednesday post and don’t forget to take advantage of the work style inspiration provided by Nathalie of Earnestyle and every other fashion blogger babe that joined our Work Style Wednesday Fashion Blogger Link up!

Weekend Vibes

Here’s another weekend casual look perfect for weekend wandering and running errands in style.  I got this Adidas x TOPSHOP jacket last year from TOPSHOP at The Grove Shopping Center in Los Angeles and have only worn it for traveling due to Miami’s eternal summer climate.

The athletic inspired trend was huge in 2014 and has carried over to 2015 due to popular demand.  Those of you who know me know that I have never been one for athletic wear, but when athletic wear brands (such as Adidas) collaborate with fashion forward retailers (such as TOPSHOP) the outcome of fashionable comfort is simply irresistible.

I hope you all have a fun filled weekend! Thank you for visiting me and don’t forget to stay tuned next Wednesday for my new Wednesday feature in collaboration with Nathalie of EarnestyleWork Style Wednesday!

Fall Fun

Hey strangers! It’s been much too long since my last post. If you follow me on Instagram you already know that I’ve been away on an adventurous vacation in Nicaragua! If you don’t follow me on Instagram, well you know what to do!

Between hiking volcanos and canyoning to fishing in the ocean and living in a tree house, I think it’s safe to say that time and WIFI were nowhere to be found in this adventure. With so many exciting things to share, I’ll be gladly playing a heavy game of catch up on here!

As for today, here’s a fun look for fall! Transition those little flared skirts from summer to fall by throwing in tights and booties. And as for the staple “secretary blouse” or “neck tie blouse”, its everywhere for fall, magazines, catalogs, look books and fahion blogs. I love the femininity and versatility of the neck tie blouse. Wear it in a loose bow, loose knot (as seen below) or simply untied.  What do you think?

Sleeveless Trench

One of my favorite additions to my Fall wardrobe has been this sleeveless trench you see here. Not only is a sleeveless trench a great way of adding light layers and structure to any look, but it’s also very much in with the oh-so popular “menswear inspired” trend this season.  As you may have predicted, I found this little gem at Marshalls and immediately fell in love with the numerous possibilities of styling it!  I stuck to basics this time around with oxblood skinnies, a white tee and chunky gladiators, but I look forward to wearing it with contrasting, more feminine pieces very soon!

Geo Floral

The recent completion of New York Fashion Week (NYFW) and the current happening of London Fashion Week (LFW) have me completely immersed in fashion magazines and fashion shows diligently taking notes on what fashionistas around the world will be wearing in 2015.

Last week I watched a live stream of Carolina Herrera’s Spring/Summer 2015 fashion show and usual, I was floored!  Carolina Herrera is one of my all time favorite fashion designers.  Few designers have the ability to capture the style, grace and elegance of a woman quite like Carolina Herrera.  The House of Herrera Ready to Wear Spring 2015 collection is a futuristic garden of deconstructed gowns, geometric pieces and digital floral prints. Needless to say… I’m in love!

*That middle gown with the giant rose in the front is officially my dream wedding dress*

House of Herrera Spring 2015 CollectionCarolina Herrera Spring/Summer 2015What’s hot for each season is primarily determined by high-end designers and although many (including myself) cannot afford to don the exact looks straight from the runways of NYFW or LFW, whose to say you can’t take a little inspiration from the themes and styles of the runways and create your own affordable versions of them?

Here’s my take on this digital Geo Floral garden as inspired by Carolina Herrera’s Spring 2015 Ready to Wear Collection.
