I purchased this dress from Boohoo.com and to be frank I was somewhat reluctant to order from this site because the prices seemed a bit “too good to be true”. However, despite my hesitations I took a leap of faith and ordered this dress in two colors and another OTS (Off the Shoulder) top. Overall, I must say I was fairly pleased with the quality of the items I ordered. I would compare the quality of the clothing to that of Forever 21. When it comes to trendy pieces I try not to break the bank and that is what sites like Boohoo are ideal for, trendy pieces at very low prices. I originally had my heart set on this MLM Label Maison Dress, but the price tag gave me heart palpitations and so I settled for the very similar version you see me wearing here for a fraction of the price!
The cold air has finally made its way down to sunny Miami and I couldn’t be more excited! And neither could my most recent “furry” impulse purchase! No, I didn’t get another cat!
I’ve had this perfect, furry little vest sitting pretty in my closet since Black Friday and it may, or may not have made love to one of the many leopard printed garments in my closet, giving birth to this furry little number here; making that two furry impulse purchases, but who’s keeping count, right?
Fur and all things furry, are currently stirring quite a “fury” in the fashion world right now and despite suffering from a shortage of cold weather, I simply can’t resist the opportunity to give into this soft and fuzzy trend!
In addition to all things soft and furry I am also currently tickled by the color “Blush” so I opted for soft blush skinny pants and blush details and accessories to marry the soft neutrals in the furry vest. The result is a sweet, soft monotone look, which I simply fell in love with.
As you know, its Work Style Wednesday so don’t forget to take advantage of the countless work style inspiration ideas below!
Oxblood may very well be the “It” color for fall/winter. Oxblood is a deep red wine color somewhere between Bordeaux and Burgundy and this season whether it’s clothing, handbags, shoes, lips or nails, its everywhere! I had been on the hunt for the perfect Oxblood handbag and much to no surprise the hunt ended at Marshalls! As soon as I laid eyes on this perfect oxblood satchel (with optional removable cross body strap) I knew it had to be mine! It’s quickly become my favorite handbag this season, so don’t judge me if you see me wearing it with EVERYTHING!
The perfect oxblood handbag wouldn’t be complete without the perfect oxblood booties! I nabbed these fierce faux snakeskin booties from Express during their recent 50% OFF everything sale and it appears many other fashionistas had the same idea because they are currently sold out. Sorry guys! But as usual, below are a few similar options for you to pull off the look as well.
Forgetting your pants at home has never looked so good thanks to oversized shirtdresses! Perhaps one of, if not, my favorite garb stemming from the very popular menswear inspired trend, oversized shirtdresses are comfy, nonchalantly sexy and quite controversial lol!
On both occasions that I’ve worn this shirtdress (here and below), I have to admit, I’ve received some puzzled looks and comments such as “where are your pants?” and “hey did you forget your pants at home?”. Silly questions considering this shirtdress has pockets! Duh! Clearly a dress.
Speaking of pockets, let’s talk about the comfort of a shirtdress. I love any dress with pockets, pockets are very comforting and convenient. Wearing a shirtdress is pretty much like wearing PJ’s and getting away with it. It says “I woke up like this…and put on my boyfriend’s dress shirt”.
Which brings me to the nonchalantly sexy aspect. I mean there’s nothing truly flattering or feminine about an oversized shirtdress, it’s closest relative is a potato sack! But “sexy” is not always about what you immediately provide to the eye. Sexy can very often be an implied thought, a hint to the imagination. The thought of a woman waking up next to her man, slipping on nothing but his dress shirt (from last night) and stepping out into world as such, is pretty sexy. At least I think so.
3. Dual Pearl Studs – As seen on virtually every single fashion blogger in the universe at the moment, these dual pearl earrings are the perfect combination of femininity and edge and I just can’t put them down!
5. Leather- Leather is a no brainer for Fall, but full blown leather leggings in Miami’s “Faux Fall” are still impossible to endure (maybe in January), therefore these black leggings with faux leather paneling are the perfect alternative!
6. Wedge Booties– I have to admit wedged boots are something that have slowly grown on me. Comfort is perhaps the #1 reason for my newfound love of them. Living in Brickell and working in Downtown call for a heavy pedestrian lifestyle and I can walk for miles and miles in these rock star-ish Vince Camuto wedge booties.
Hey Dolls! I hope you all had a nice weekend! I am simply glad that I am finally recuperating from the dreaded flu I suffered from this past week and that I felt well enough to attend my friend’s bridal shower on Saturday. I wore this adorable tribal print fit-n-flare TOPSHOP dress. Whenever I wear tribal prints I can’t resist the urge to accessorize with fringe! They just go together like teepees and Indians, don’t you agree?
The recent completion of New York Fashion Week (NYFW) and the current happening of London Fashion Week (LFW) have me completely immersed in fashion magazines and fashion shows diligently taking notes on what fashionistas around the world will be wearing in 2015.
What’s hot for each season is primarily determined by high-end designers and although many (including myself) cannot afford to don the exact looks straight from the runways of NYFW or LFW, whose to say you can’t take a little inspiration from the themes and styles of the runways and create your own affordable versions of them?
Here’s my take on this digital Geo Floral garden as inspired by Carolina Herrera’s Spring 2015 Ready to Wear Collection.
What would you do if you saw a woman walking down the street with a ripped dress and her ass hanging out? Okay, forget the part where this is Miami and butt cheek exposure is the norm. I’m talking about a woman, clearly dressed for work, wearing a blazer and a dress with a tear from her lower back to her mid thigh. Would you stop her and advise her of the situation?
Last week Thursday as I made my way to work, I stepped out of the car, entered my office building, walked by 2 different lobbies and rode 2 different elevators (full of people) all the while fully exposing my derriere. Do you think a single person had the courtesy of telling me “Excuse me miss, your ass is completely exposed”….? NOPE! Not a soul. My hopes were that no one actually noticed, but considering the enormous size of the tear (and my ass), I find it very hard to believe.
I can’t tell you how many times I have saved or relieved complete strangers of embarrassing situations. Booger in nose, skirt tucked into panties, open zippers, etc. Although it appears Karma has failed to keep tabs of my past good deeds, I plan to continue my selfless acts of kindness in hopes that one day the good deeds will be reciprocated.
The moral of the story is: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Do good deeds people! If you see a sister walking down the street with a hole the size of Texas on her dress/skirt/pants, let a sister know!
After much debate about whether or not I should post a picture of the not-so-little mishap, I decided that my personal style blog is no place to publicly display my goods, at least not my God given ones anyway. But just know that while taking the pics below I enjoyed an extra nice breeze.
Hello, my name is Martha and I am a Floral-holic!!
This has certainly been the year of floral print for me, but can you blame me? Floral prints have come a very long way. Today’s floral prints are not reminiscent of your “abuela’s” curtains, today’s floral prints are abstract, digital, geometric and just plain exhilarating.
Okay, so now that I have declared my addiction and justification for my love of florals, let’s talk about this irresistible, floral skater skirt I found while perusing the racks at TJ Maxx. With two other floral items already in hand I tried to resist it, but with it’s punchy floral print and $10.00 price tag, surrender was the only option. I grabbed it, held it up for my BFF to approve to which she replied “are you kidding me? That has YOU written ALL over!” Lol!
I decided to tone down the punch a bit with a silky ivory v-neck and cork sandals. Cork sandals are extremely versatile. I.M.O.: they can be paired with essentially any casual or semi-casual ensemble. I just love them for summer! To kick the punch back up a bit, I grabbed my Vince Camuto Color Block Satchel with a similar punchy tone. * F.Y. I. Color Block handbags are back with a vengeance for Fall 2014 fashion!
The rest of my outfit details are below! I hope you enjoy this look as much I did!
I just love the comfort and facility of a shift dress! The shift dress is the cure for the common “can’t get your shit together” morning in which you can barely scrape yourself from your mattress, much less put together a suitably chic combination.
With you a shift dress you simply slip on, accessorize, finger comb hair, grab shoes and bag and jet out the door! So if you’re anything like me, you should probably stock up on shift dresses!! Like the one I’m wearing here? It’s on SALE at Old Navy here!
What’s your go to style for those “Can’t Get Your Shit Together” mornings??
