You know that moment when you spot something on the rack that you just can’t wait to add to your closet? Well, that was the case the moment I laid eyes on this vibrant floral skirt from Marshalls. Before I knew it, my mind began blooming with style possibilities and before I could even make it to the register I had the whole look you see below all laid out (in my mind)!
Oh, February….The month of LOVE! If you’ve stopped by the blog lately and/or follow me on IG, you’ve probably noticed that my love affair with the color “Blush” is hot and heavy! For as long as I can remember, I have always been an admirer of virtually any shade of pink; and although I still find flamingo pink and hot pink simply irresistible, “Blush” seems a more appropriate approach for the maturer pink lover in me. My favorite way to describe the color “Blush” is: “Pink with a hint of vintage”. And you all know I love just about anything that can be classified under vintage!
Speaking of LOVE, Valentines Day is right around the corner and this year, instead of going for the cliche “LRD” (Little Red Dress), how about going for an “LBD”? Now every fashionista knows that “LBD” is actually the acronym for “Little Black Dress”, but for the sake of this post “LBD” will be defined as “Little Blush Dress”!
Regardless of whether you go for an “LBD” or an “LRD” fishnet stockings are a sure fire way of making your honey “blush” (pun totally intended) this Valentines Day. And if you can get your hands on a fishnet or lace bodystocking to wear under your “LBD” or “LRD”, well, just be sure to have rag ready to wipe the drool off your Valentines face.
I’ll be sharing more Valentines Day inspired looks throughout the next two weeks, so stay tuned!
The cold air has finally made its way down to sunny Miami and I couldn’t be more excited! And neither could my most recent “furry” impulse purchase! No, I didn’t get another cat!
I’ve had this perfect, furry little vest sitting pretty in my closet since Black Friday and it may, or may not have made love to one of the many leopard printed garments in my closet, giving birth to this furry little number here; making that two furry impulse purchases, but who’s keeping count, right?
Fur and all things furry, are currently stirring quite a “fury” in the fashion world right now and despite suffering from a shortage of cold weather, I simply can’t resist the opportunity to give into this soft and fuzzy trend!
In addition to all things soft and furry I am also currently tickled by the color “Blush” so I opted for soft blush skinny pants and blush details and accessories to marry the soft neutrals in the furry vest. The result is a sweet, soft monotone look, which I simply fell in love with.
As you know, its Work Style Wednesday so don’t forget to take advantage of the countless work style inspiration ideas below!
As you may have perceived, I have always been a big fan of animal prints! I am guilty of possessing countless articles of clothing fully emblazoned with cheetah spots, leopard rosettes, zebra stripes and snake skin prints. Now don’t go calling PETA on me! It’s faux! But the modern day animal print goes beyond “faux”. The latest trend in animal print is a bit more efficient, more animal friendly, if you will.
The animal prints I am currently loving are those that embrace the full animal, such as the Cardinal and Finch bird print blouse you see below. More and more I am finding (and loving) animal prints made up of full bodied leopards, horses, peacocks, whales, etc. You’ve seen me in “full bodied animal” print before here and here and I am currently obsessed with anything with lobsters and flamingos on them, so get ready for that!
I paired this adorable bird print blouse with this amazing royal blue, asymmetrical skirt from one of my favorite online and pop-up boutiques, CONCRETE RUNWAY! I discovered Concrete Runway on Instagram and was amazed at the stellar quality of their inventory considering their very affordable pricing. You’ve seen me wearing Concrete Runway pieces before here and here and for the next 25 days receive 25% off your Concrete Runway purchase by using coupon code: sunfunfashion25 at checkout!
First of all let me just say that I am ecstatic to be a part of this fun and associative project alongside Nathalie of Earnestyle Blog!
As a part time blogger with a full time career outside of fashion, “work wear” pretty much governs the majority of my Monday – Friday style choices. I like to describe my personal work style as professional, yet playful. While always keeping in mind my office dress code, I can’t ever resist adding a bit of color and flare to professional and structured pieces.
Today’s Work Style Wednesday look is the perfect example of how to add a little feminine flare to a work wear staple, the trouser. Man or woman, the trouser is at the top of every working professional’s list of “must haves”. And because trousers are so unisex, what better way of claiming a feminine stake on trousers than by adding a little bit (or a lot) of sparkle!
I absolutely love the fit of these Michael Kors Jogger Trousers, even though after breaking them in a bit I realized that they are a tad big on me. Nothing a bit of tailoring can’t fix! Tailoring is a very important part of work style, it’s the difference between slouchy and polished. Fortunately, my tailor is conveniently located directly across the street from my office!
I hope you all enjoyed my first Work Style Wednesday post and don’t forget to take advantage of the work style inspiration provided by Nathalie of Earnestyle and every other fashion blogger babe that joined our Work Style Wednesday Fashion Blogger Link up!
Are you guys as excited about the long weekend as I am? Jumping right back into my routine after a sleepless, eco-adventure vacation has me running on fumes. Nothing like a 4 day weekend to get me back on the grid and back on the grind!
Speaking of being on the grid, I am sure you guys have seen this grid print on my skirt everywhere this season! I love this black and white grid print because it is very versatile, you can literally wear it with just about any color. I also love this print because it is an chic and modern take on plaid. Everyone is mad for plaid this season, but I for one loathe plaid. That’s right, I said it, I loathe plaid. I just can’t. I don’t hate it on other people, but I personally refuse to wear it. Therefore, grid print is an acceptable substitute in my book.
I wish you all a wonderful long weekend and a blessed Thanksgiving!
Hey strangers! It’s been much too long since my last post. If you follow me on Instagram you already know that I’ve been away on an adventurous vacation in Nicaragua! If you don’t follow me on Instagram, well you know what to do!
Between hiking volcanos and canyoning to fishing in the ocean and living in a tree house, I think it’s safe to say that time and WIFI were nowhere to be found in this adventure. With so many exciting things to share, I’ll be gladly playing a heavy game of catch up on here!
As for today, here’s a fun look for fall! Transition those little flared skirts from summer to fall by throwing in tights and booties. And as for the staple “secretary blouse” or “neck tie blouse”, its everywhere for fall, magazines, catalogs, look books and fahion blogs. I love the femininity and versatility of the neck tie blouse. Wear it in a loose bow, loose knot (as seen below) or simply untied. What do you think?
Don’t you just love when you’re perusing the racks and suddenly you spot something wonderful! Last week on a lunchtime trip to Marshalls I spotted this adorable Collective Concepts dress and was immediately smitten! I love everything about this dress! For starters, the burnt orange, navy and light pink leopard print is so different and refreshing! The flared/pleated skirt is feminine and playful, while the contrasting color patches at the waist add a slimming effect! Need I say more? Fashionistas, this is what I like to call a #FABFOUND winner!
Since we all know I love a little “Pattern Play” I decided to throw on my seersucker striped blazer. When playing with colorful patterns always remember that it is very important to keep within similar color families down to your shoes and accessories. Notice how although the blue/ivory stripes on the blazer play well with the navy/ivory leopard rosettes on the dress; it is the similar colored navy shoes and handbag that act as the perfect cohesive for these two converse patterns (stripes and spots).
All in all, I love the way this whole look came together. What do you think?
What would you do if you saw a woman walking down the street with a ripped dress and her ass hanging out? Okay, forget the part where this is Miami and butt cheek exposure is the norm. I’m talking about a woman, clearly dressed for work, wearing a blazer and a dress with a tear from her lower back to her mid thigh. Would you stop her and advise her of the situation?
Last week Thursday as I made my way to work, I stepped out of the car, entered my office building, walked by 2 different lobbies and rode 2 different elevators (full of people) all the while fully exposing my derriere. Do you think a single person had the courtesy of telling me “Excuse me miss, your ass is completely exposed”….? NOPE! Not a soul. My hopes were that no one actually noticed, but considering the enormous size of the tear (and my ass), I find it very hard to believe.
I can’t tell you how many times I have saved or relieved complete strangers of embarrassing situations. Booger in nose, skirt tucked into panties, open zippers, etc. Although it appears Karma has failed to keep tabs of my past good deeds, I plan to continue my selfless acts of kindness in hopes that one day the good deeds will be reciprocated.
The moral of the story is: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Do good deeds people! If you see a sister walking down the street with a hole the size of Texas on her dress/skirt/pants, let a sister know!
After much debate about whether or not I should post a picture of the not-so-little mishap, I decided that my personal style blog is no place to publicly display my goods, at least not my God given ones anyway. But just know that while taking the pics below I enjoyed an extra nice breeze.
I simply adore florals, not only are they easy to incorporate into your year round wardrobe (especially if you live in tropical Miami) but I also love mixing florals with other prints, or even other floral pieces to create a head -to- toe floral garden look such as today’s OOTD! Someone invite me to a garden tea party!! I’m ready!
