If You Love Something Let It Go….

You’ve all heard the saying: “If you love something, let it go.  If it comes back to you, its yours forever.  If it doesn’t, then it was never meant to be.”  Well, although it is highly unlikely that “Unknown” was referring to a sequin embellished midi-skirt, it is this very quote that best describes my love affair with the skirt you see below.

Flashback about 15 years.

On a habitual Marshalls shopping trip with my mother, I instantaneously fell in love with the perfectly embellished, gold sequin beauty you see below. I convinced my mother that I absolutely NEEDED this skirt to further my existence and proceeded to list each and every upcoming event, Quinceañera, school dance and holiday I could potentially wear this skirt to; and I did.  I wore this skirt several times before deciding to do with it what I normally do with clothing I have convinced myself I will not wear again; give it to my mother to send to Nicaragua.

Well, my mother, being the borderline hoarder that she is, decided NOT to send this skirt to Nicaragua and kept it around for the day that (in my mother’s words) I “learned to appreciate choice pieces.”  About a month ago, more than 12 years later, my mother resurfaced this enchanting midi skirt and I fell in love all over again. With rich embellishments and midi-skirts being two of 2014’s hottest trends, I have to say this skirt’s feature on Sun Fun Fashion was simply meant to be.

This skirt really is enchanting.  I plan to keep it around quite possibly forever.  I consider it the first piece of my “Vintage Marshalls” Collection!

Thanks for your time! Have a wonderful day!

Happy New Year y’all! I wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous 2014! Today I am delighted to share my first #ootd of 2014!

Still very much immersed in last nights new year festivities, today I decided to extend my right to bear sequins by wearing this rose gold sequined blouse from EXPRESS. It is my belief that as a woman I should have the right to bear sequins whenever I see fit without being looked at like a crackpot!

Sequins are EVERYTHING, the definition of glamorous, fabulous and feminine (3 of my favorite adjectives). Why should I have to wait until the holidays to bear sequins? I shouldn’t! Therefore, one of my (many) 2014 resolutions is to more frequently practice my right to bear sequins! Trivial? Perhaps, but my right to bear sequins can more deeply be interpreted as a resolution to evolve my style by becoming more unrestricted and experimental with fashion.

All too often I refrain from wearing certain outfits because of insecurities about my body and/or ability to “pull off a look.” The harsh reality is that the Alessandra’s, Gisele’s and Heidi’s are far and few, but let me remind me (and you) that fashion is not just for models, nor is it geocentric or seasonal. Fashion is art. Expression through creativity. Remember, nothing completes a look quite like confidence, so go ahead and confidently give in to that trend you’ve been dying to try. If you don’t feel it suits you, set it aside, no harm done, but you owe it to yourself to try it out. If you love it, it’s evolution! Style evolution!

What are your new year resolutions?

P.S. Here are some pics from my NYE look! Of course bearing sequins!

Just BLAZE-R It ….

I just love a good crisp blazer, don’t you? A blazer is a style staple absolutely no woman (much less man) should be without and simply the best way to make just about anything look chic and polished. Need a quick and chic way to transform any look from desk-to-dinner? Just BLAZE-R it!

I hope you all have a lovely day and thank you very much for your visit!

Hitting the Sale Rack

Let me start off by wishing you all a happy, healthy and successful new year! The past few weeks have been a whirlwind and Little Ms. Sun Fun Fashion (<–that’s ME) Lol.. has been M.I.A. Well,  NO MORE! I may have put my blogging wayside, but NEVER my fashion adventures!

On a recent Christmas shopping expedition to Coconut Grove I discovered a wonderful, little buy, sell, trade shop named Sale Rack located right on Main Highway. Sale Rack carries an eclectic variety of new, used and vintage items at very reasonable prices.  While perusing the “Sale Racks” you get the feeling you’re traveling through time as you encounter anything from timeless vintage beauties, to more modern, hipster trends.  Sale Rack has something interesting and fabulous for just about everyone and the shop’s highly organized selection is separated by sizes, making it very easy to shop.  If you really want to know what makes Sale Rack a fashion gem in my opinion …. Well, it’s two things:

1. The abundant variety of spectacular jewelry and accessories; and
2. The owner, Allison Sagehorn is endearing, friendly and very helpful just like the rest of the sales associates.

I nabbed the über comfy maxi skirt and rhinestone snake ring (as well as many other treasures that you will see in the near future) in this post at Sale Rack.  Sale Rack is located at 3444 Main Highway #20, Coconut Grove, Florida 33133.  Check it out!

A Slithering Sensation

Well what do you know “It’s the most wonderful time of the yearrrr” and with the blink of an eye it will be 2013! According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2013 is the year of the Snake. I wonder if that might have anything to do with the snake print frenzy slithering through so many 2013 spring and summer designer collections. Gucci, Proenza Schouler, Salvatore Ferragamo and Rachel Zoe charmed this years Fashion Week runways with their serpentine designs and accessories.

I for one am a big fan of almost any animal print, but snake print possesses a glamorous edge that truly makes me feel like a rock star!  I recently found this modern, edgy snake print jacket at “The Dressing Room” in South Miami and I just know it’s going to be my go-to garment for 2013. The shredded back detail on this jacket is truly a thing of “RockGlam” beauty and I can’t wait to wear it over all types of brightly colored blouses.  For this post, I went for brightly colored pants and brought out my rock star shoe game with these Pour La Victoire chained sandals.  Drop me a line, tell me what you think.
