Soooo Miami

If you follow me on Instagram you may have caught on to the little love affair I’ve been having with flamingos!

There’s a certain nostalgia about flamingos that just tickles me pink! Flamingos bring back childhood memories of family trips to the Miami Metro Zoo, where upon entry patrons were greeted by flushing flocks of flamingos! I remember my fascination with the different shades of pinks and corals radiating from their feathers, as well as my admiration of their flirty, one legged stance.

I also love that flamingos are just soooooo Miami! I dare you to find a postcard from Miami that doesn’t have a flamingo somewhere on it. So whether it be thoughts of my childhood or thoughts of my hometown, flamingos have the power to make me feel some type of way.  So why not wear them emblazoned on my blouse, T-shirt, handbag and necklace?

October’s Fashion Happy Hour Event

You may recall me recently gushing all over Instagram about October’s Fashion Happy Hour Event. Fashion Happy Hour is a monthly event bringing together bloggers, artists, photographers, designers and fashion enthusiasts for a night of networking and fun!October’s Fashion Happy Hour Event was a special one because I had the chance to participate as one of the featured fashion bloggers alongside Nathalie of Earnestyle Blog, Daniela of Danirulis Blog and Nicole Tenhagen! As a featured blogger I was asked to style a look for the fashion show that would take place that evening, using pieces from the featured vendors.  As if perusing racks of clothing and accessories to create a look for the fashion show wasn’t enough fun, we were also treated to mini manicures, live music and a Halloween body paint fashion show! It was a great night with great company!

Thank you to Fashion Happy Hour for having me and everyone who came out that night. I would also like to thank my beautiful model Nathalie Pinzon from DAMA Modeling Academy, JADIS Boutique for providing the clothing used to style my model,  Ashlie Redmond Handbags for the beautiful red handbag used for the fashion show and a special thanks to my girlfriends Jackie and Cindy for coming out and supporting me!

ULTRA Fashion

My 9-5 is located inside the Miami Tower in Downtown Miami and every year for one particular weekend in the month of March, the Miami Tower is shaken and rattled  by one unstoppable phenomenon.  No, it’s not a hurricane and it sure as heck isn’t an earthquake in Miami.  The rattling and shaking of the iconic Miami Tower is caused by the unstoppable musical phenomenon known as the Ultra Music Festival (“UMF”).  The UMF is a 16 year old electronic dance music tradition hosted in Miami, Florida which is attended by hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world!

The City of Miami economy is expected to benefit an approximate $75 million from Ultra weekend activities.  However, it’s not the $Benjamins$ those Ultra-goers are spending that’s got me seeing rainbows in the sky. Literally.  For me it’s all about the UMF fashion scene! Fashion plays an enormous role in the culture of Ultra.  Music and fashion have always gone hand in hand, after all, the majority of fashion trends and styles are commenced and popularized by musicians and music styles.

Ultra fashion has developed through the years to blend in with and enhance the musical performances and spellbinding light shows.  Every year the UMF stage productions get bigger and better, while UMF fashion grows more creative, colorful and incandescent.

Although I did not actually attend the UMF, I did ventured out into the streets of Downtown, Miami to snap some pics and bring you guys some awesome 2014 Ultra Music Festival Fashion! I fell in love with the floral headbands and furry boots!

You can tune into the music and experience of ULTRA LIVE HERE!

Venice Beach

While in California my boyfriend and I ventured to the very creative and artistic area known as Venice Beach.  The main attraction of this area is the boardwalk where you can find hundreds of street vendors and performers. You can see everything from  break-dancing to broken glass walking, mimes, musicians, jugglers and tons of artists displaying their artwork.  Venice Beach is also the home to the famous Muscle Beach where former California Govenor and well known  action star, Arnold Schwarzenegger worked out in the 1980’s.

Walking the nearly 2 mile stretch down the boardwalk can build up quite an appetite.  For dining, shopping and bar-hopping I suggest heading over to Abbot Kinney Blvd.  We had brunch at 26 Beach Restaurant where my boyfriend, Daniel claims he had the “best pork-chop” he’s ever had!  When it comes to food, if Daniel says it’s the best, I promise you it is (boy knows his food)!

I gotta say my favorite part about Venice Beach was the street art, as evidenced by my pictures below.  I strutted around in a LeBron James, Miami Heat Jersey turned dress and boy did I cause a stir over on the west coast!  For those of you who have asked, this “Jersey Dress” was a mens, size small jersey purcased at Marshalls for $29.99, which I then took to my amazing tailor to have fitted to my curves for about $20.00.  Total cost of the dress came to about $50.00!! I LOVE MARSHALLS and MY TAILOR!

Wild Wild West

Hey everyone!  Hope you all had a lovely weekend!  I am so way behind on my blogging I feel like I am going to explode from the overload of posts I have planned for the near future!  As you all know I was recently in California on vacation and saying that I fell in love with the Golden State is an understatement-(blog post coming soon).

What I find most rewarding about traveling is the learning, influence and enrichment of different cultures and styles.  California is abundant with a variety of different races, cultures and customs, but when I think of California (not sure why) the first thing that always comes to mind is the Wild, Wild, West.  With this theme in mind, my outfit choices for California were pretty heavy on western influenced trends such as tribal prints, suede, denim and fringe…..lots of fringe!  Fringe is my new black, I am obsessed!

I wore this outfit in California but didn’t take the time to memorialize it with pictures (I must have been having too much fun) so I decided to wear it again this past Saturday in Miami for a little shopping in Midtown and a birthday celebration! More looks from my trip to California coming soon. What do you think of this one?

Color Me Good

I love staring at my closet and seeing color, color and more color.  So it’s of no surprise that I would instantly fall in love with this blouse at first sight.  The colorful “brushstroke” print reminds me of a Claude Monet painting, but my favorite part about this blouse is the band collar.  I wore this outfit to work last Friday, the blouse is sleeves but if you recall last Friday was pretty chilly so I threw on this blue/grey blazer which actually perfectly matches one of the colors on the blouse.  This faux ostrich skin bag from Ivanka Trump was a Christmas gift from me to moi and the white bib necklace was a “just because” gift from my sweet mother.  It turned out a great look for an after work happy hour date.  What do you think?

PINK & Everything NAUGHTY

So I had been super pumped about seeing the much talked about pop-up theatrical experience Orchid. Orchid has been described as “part Moulin Rouge, part Cirquie du Soleil, a pop culture infused extravaganza in a vintage European Cabaret tent and enhanced by an exclusive food and beverage program developed by award-winning chef, Michelle Bernstein.” Well, this past Saturday night I finally had the chance to check it out.

My boyfriend and I headed to the Pleasure Garden (calm down, that’s the name of the venue) one hour before showtime to have a few drinks and a bite to eat at the Pleasure Garden Restaurant. We munched on  “Michy’s Croquetas” made with Jamon Serrano, melted cheese and fig jam, which were very delicious and the “Fresh Ceviche of the Day,” which in all honesty was not so great.  The food portions were not only scarce and pricey, but also served on plasticware. I understand the concept of the pop-up restaurant, but plasticware?

As for the show, I have to be honest, I was a bit underwhelmed. They say “expectation is the root of all heartache” and my expectations may have been too high. It was not bad, but it was not great either. A mix of song, dance, burlesque, aerial acrobatics and fireworks sounds like a recipe for a mind-blowing good time and I did have a good time, but my mind was not blown away…..Waaaah, waaaaah, waaaaaah!

Take a look at what I wore for the show, a little bit of PINK and everything else NAUGHTY!

Hitting the Sale Rack

Let me start off by wishing you all a happy, healthy and successful new year! The past few weeks have been a whirlwind and Little Ms. Sun Fun Fashion (<–that’s ME) Lol.. has been M.I.A. Well,  NO MORE! I may have put my blogging wayside, but NEVER my fashion adventures!

On a recent Christmas shopping expedition to Coconut Grove I discovered a wonderful, little buy, sell, trade shop named Sale Rack located right on Main Highway. Sale Rack carries an eclectic variety of new, used and vintage items at very reasonable prices.  While perusing the “Sale Racks” you get the feeling you’re traveling through time as you encounter anything from timeless vintage beauties, to more modern, hipster trends.  Sale Rack has something interesting and fabulous for just about everyone and the shop’s highly organized selection is separated by sizes, making it very easy to shop.  If you really want to know what makes Sale Rack a fashion gem in my opinion …. Well, it’s two things:

1. The abundant variety of spectacular jewelry and accessories; and
2. The owner, Allison Sagehorn is endearing, friendly and very helpful just like the rest of the sales associates.

I nabbed the über comfy maxi skirt and rhinestone snake ring (as well as many other treasures that you will see in the near future) in this post at Sale Rack.  Sale Rack is located at 3444 Main Highway #20, Coconut Grove, Florida 33133.  Check it out!
