Sleeveless Trench

Hey guys!  I wanted to share this simple look I wore a few weeks back.

I think it’s pretty obvious I have quite the fascination with sleeveless trenches/blazers (as seen here, here, here and here).  I love how effortlessly a sleeveless trench can add dimension to just about any outfit, from a tee-shirt and jeans, to a feminine little dress.  Versatile and always chic, the sleeveless trench is just the thing to help transition your style from summer to fall. Not to mention, it’s a great way for Miami-ans to embrace fall outerwear without suffering from heatstroke!

What are your favorite summer to fall transition pieces?

Dressed to Flamingle

I don’t really know what else to say other than…. Thank you Kate Spade! Thank you for never failing to capture my feminine soul and designing collections that girls, women and girly men dream of! But most of all, thank you for your Summer 2015 Flamingo Collection!  I am completely infatuated with my Flamingo Sheath Dress!  It’s perfect for work or flamingle-ing!

Work Style Wednesday: The Trouser

First of all let me just say that I am ecstatic to be a part of this fun and associative project alongside Nathalie of Earnestyle Blog!

As a part time blogger with a full time career outside of fashion, “work wear” pretty much governs the majority of my Monday – Friday style choices. I like to describe my personal work style as professional, yet playful.  While always keeping in mind my office dress code, I can’t ever resist adding a bit of color and flare to professional and structured pieces.

Today’s Work Style Wednesday look is the perfect example of how to add a little feminine flare to a work wear staple, the trouser.  Man or woman, the trouser is at the top of every working professional’s list of “must haves”.  And because trousers are so unisex, what better way of claiming a feminine stake on trousers than by adding a little bit (or a lot) of sparkle!

I absolutely love the fit of these Michael Kors Jogger Trousers, even though after breaking them in a bit I realized that they are a tad big on me.  Nothing a bit of tailoring can’t fix! Tailoring is a very important part of work style, it’s the difference between slouchy and polished.  Fortunately, my tailor is conveniently located directly across the street from my office!

I hope you all enjoyed my first Work Style Wednesday post and don’t forget to take advantage of the work style inspiration provided by Nathalie of Earnestyle and every other fashion blogger babe that joined our Work Style Wednesday Fashion Blogger Link up!

Head-to-Toe Fall Faves

Today’s look is comprised of my Head-to-Toe Fall Faves!

1.  Wool Fedora – Perhaps my #1 favorite Fall accessory! Perfect for Miami’s sunny fall weather! Look fierce while protecting that gorgeous skin from the sun!

2.  Blood Wine Lips – Bold, bloody lips scream Fall and I can’t tell you how many compliments/questions I get about this lip color combo.  To achieve this look I use a MAC lip pencil called “Currant” and a Wet-n-Wild lip color called “Sugar Plum Fairy” #908C.

3.  Dual Pearl Studs – As seen on virtually every single fashion blogger in the universe at the moment, these dual pearl earrings are the perfect combination of femininity and edge and I just can’t put them down!

4.  Chambray (Denim) – Denim, chambray and more denim! Head-to-toe denim a/k/a The Canadian Tuxedo is one of Fall 2014’s most popular trends and this light Chambray button down from Forever 21 is the ideal tone to pair with slightly darker denim to achieve that perfect Canadian Tuxedo look.

5.  Leather- Leather is a no brainer for Fall, but full blown leather leggings in Miami’s “Faux Fall” are still impossible to endure (maybe in January), therefore these black leggings with faux leather paneling are the perfect alternative!

6.  Wedge Booties– I have to admit wedged boots are something that have slowly grown on me.  Comfort is perhaps the #1 reason for my newfound love of them.   Living in Brickell and working in Downtown call for a heavy pedestrian lifestyle and I can walk for miles and miles in these rock star-ish Vince Camuto wedge booties.

Also wearing: Gold Shark Tooth Necklace; Tan Envelope Clutch; Wraparound Leather Cuff Bracelet; Pave Criss-Cross Ring; Shark Mouth Midi-Ring.

Wild Ballerina

As you may have noticed, I am a shoe hoarder.  However, despite my obsession with shoes, I find shoes to be the most uncomfortable piece of clothing ever created.  Yes, even more uncomfortable than the bra.  Perhaps it’s due to my abnormally large, uncomfortably shaped feet?  Whatever the case, before these adorable Jessica Simpson Ballerina Flats, I was convinced that I could never wear a shoe for longer than 2 hours without experiencing some discomfort.  Identical to a ballerina “pointe shoe” at first sight you think tough, stiff and hard to break in. Well, I’m no real ballerina; and these are no real pointe shoes.

These flats are seriously the most comfortable shoes I have ever put on my uncomfortable feet.  They are as soft as Isotoners yet as stylish as the Royal Ballet. And oh yea, they’re leopard print! They are also available in black, coffee, natural and grey leopard, but no matter what color you choose this will be the most comfortable shoe your feet will ever twinkle toe in.  The perfect shoe for travel! I’m in love with a pair of shoes! SHOCKER!

Thank you for entertaining my fashion obsessive rants! I’ll stop here.

Love you guys! Nite nite!

Fancy Wednesday: SHARKS!!!!!

Shark Week is back and for those of you who know me, you are well aware that (1) I have a freakish obsession with sharks; and (2) I possess a plethora of shark related knowledge that will probably never be of any use to me, unless I end up as a contestant on “Shark Week Jeopardy” (which does not exist-unfortunately)!

Now, growing up I had a wide collection of shark tooth necklaces, bracelets, earrings.. you name it! You know, the ones with the leather rope necklace and African beads, but why as an adult I have failed to own shark tooth accessories is beyond me! That is until NOW!

This week my fancy is being “ATTACKED” by shark tooth accessories! Take a bite out of my top picks below!

Palm Friday

If you follow my blog and/or have recently flipped through any fashion magazine or catalog then you’ve probably noticed that palm print is pretty much EVERYTHING right now.

I for one am currently obsessed with all “tropical” prints including fruit, flamingo and lobster prints! My attention and affection for palm print is nothing new; you’ve seen these palm print harem style pants before here and here, but I wanted to wear these über comfy pantalones to work.  Palm print has a very casual, “reminiscent of tropical surroundings with frozen drinks” vibe. Can you tell I’m in Happy Friday spirits? So in an effort to “business casualize” the palm print I went for this lace and leather detail peplum top, a statement necklace and simple black sandals.

I kinda love this look! What do you think? Happy Friday!

Fashion Happy Hour

This past Sunday I attended my first ever Fashion Happy Hour event! Fashion Happy Hour is a monthly event  that brings together bloggers, artists, photographers, designers and fashion enthusiasts for a chance to shop, network and socialize!  The venue varies from month to month and this month Fashion Happy Hour took place at none other than the very hip Catalina Hotel in Miami Beach!

The pool, which aptly accommodated a runway was surrounded by pop-up shops care of local designers and vendors such as MV Trend Jewelry, Wild Orchid, TAudrey and Genuine Aura to name a few!  There was live music, libations provided by Voli Vodka as well as ONLI flavored sparkling water, my new favorite non-alcoholic beverage!  I tried the Black Tea Tangerine Ginger flavor and was instantly hooked!  Try it out, its light and refreshing!

Now what would a fashion happy hour be without a fashion show, of course?  The gorgeous models of D.A.M.A. Modeling, Etiquette and Pageantry School cat walked down the runway featuring summer looks courtesy of KM Swimwear, ALX Couture and Nany’s Klozet Para Melao.

Sure shopping, sipping and dancing on a Sunday Funday afternoon are hard to eclipse, but my favorite part of Fashion Happy Hour was the people I met and the connections I made!  I had the pleasure of meeting the very sweet, smart and fashionable Nathalie of Earnestyle Blog whom I look forward to building a blogger buddy friendship with!  I was also thrilled to finally meet the uber successful and genuinely lovable Daniela Ramirez of Nany’s Kloset who was showcasing her very own collection for the Venezuelan brand Melao.

Overall, I had a great time at this month’s Fashion Happy Hour!  Although it was hotter than all hell, I felt appropriately draped in my Lyfebrand Flamingo muscle tee and Ivory Sheer Grid Skirt from Concrete Runway (both local Miami vendors)!

Although you will rarely catch me sporting an updo, I knew I wanted/needed to wear my hair up to avoid “Afro Puff-ation” so I turned to Pinterest and Youtube for tutorials on D.I.Y. updo’s.  What do you think?

Thank you Fashion Happy Hour for the invite!  I look forward to the next one!

As you may have already figured out, I tend to gravitate towards ultra feminine pieces. When I first saw this floral pastel dress at Zara, I knew I had to take it home with me!  I just love the feminine silhouette, soft pastel colors and flirty ruffled bottom. Perhaps that is why I can’t stop myself from finding as many different ways of styling this dress as possible.

You’ve seen this pretty little thing before here when I wore it the Lucky FABB Conference in Los Angeles.  I remember walking around L.A. saying “I’m bringing the Miami Pastelitos to Lucky FABB”! Lol! For those of you who are not from Miami, “Pastelitos” are delicious Cuban pastries, but I see no harm in using the word to describe the adorable pastel color palette of this girly dress! What can I say, I’m a dork!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and thank you for paying me a visit!

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a productive Monday! Seersucker is one of my favorite spring/summer fabrics.

What is seersucker?  Seersucker is a breathable woven cotton fabric, traditionally striped or checkered, with alternate stripes crinkled in the weaving giving it a slightly wrinkled appearance making this fabric perfect for those hot spring and summer months.  The word “seersucker” originates from the Hindi words “kheer aur shakkar”, meaning “rice pudding and sugar” due to the resemblance between the smooth and rough stripes to the smooth surface of milk and bumpy texture of sugar.

That ladies and gentlemen is your Sun Fun Fashion Lesson of the day! Lol!

Have a great week everyone!
