Fun Femme Frock

And so my love affair with the Peter Pilotto x Target Collection continues, but can you blame me?  I mean, look at the use of print and color on this frock; and the low-high cut, ruffled bottom goes without saying!  This little frock is fun and feminine all wrapped up with a matching black/white patent leather belt into one fabulous frock! I opted for all black and white accessories this time around, but for future use of this frock, I look forward to altering the dynamic by replacing the belt with a solid colored belt and coordinating accessories.  Of course, you will see it here on Sun Fun Fashion!

What do you know….My dear friend, co-worker and photographer (yes, she’s a woman of many talents), Teri Rodriguez coincidently came into the office also wearing Peter Pilotto x Target!  Doesn’t she look fab!! Oh, yeah and her flats…. I DIE! Love ya Teri!

Happy Friday Fashionistas! Today’s look came to be at a moment of complete indecisiveness.  As you already know, I am currently obsessed with any and all prints including camouflage, leopard and stripes!  Now, why should I have to pick just one? Well, luckily I DON”T and therefore I DIDN’T.

So TA-DAAAAA here it is!  What do you think?  Success or Printed Mess?

Peter Pilotto for Target

Hey guys! I am finally getting around to posting a look featuring one of the many (ok, lots of many) pieces I purchased from the Peter Pilotto for Target Collection.  If you know me, or simply scroll through the pages of Sun Fun Fashion you will quickly realize that I am a sucker for prints, color and structured pieces and NO ONE and I really mean NO ONE does bold prints, color and structure quite like the two gentlemen behind Peter Pilotto.  This by far, has been my favorite designer/Target collaboration to date!

Aside from my infatuation with the colors and prints, the fabrics are not too shabby either.  The fabrics are appropriate for the price- plenty of polyester (but not the wrinkly and scratchy kind), nice cotton-blend jersey and a few pieces made with a textured jacquard effect material such as the highly coveted Jacquard Iris Print Dress.  The sizing I found to run a bit large with the exception of the Jacquard Iris Print Dress, which despite sizing up to a size 8 is still extremely snug in the chest area (and I don’t even have a chest area).  I ordered the Blue/White Color Block blazer in a Medium (my usual blazer size), but I really wish I would have ordered a Small.

Overall, with all merchandise priced within $14.99 – $79.99, I have to say I am very pleased with this collaboration!  I consider my 4:00 a.m. rousing on the date of the release to be well justified and advantageous as the majority of the collection sold out both at Target and Net-a-Porter within the first few hours of its release. image Red Floral/Check Print Skirt: Peter Pilotto for Target; Blue/White Print Blouse: Purchased from a random vendor at my usual beauty salon; Caged Heels: Nine West; Black/White Color Block Fold-Over Clutch: EXPRESS (gift); Black & White Bracelet: Kate Spade; 3D Printed Cobalt Diamond Ring: Orlando Fernandez ( purchased at the Perez Art Museum Miami Gift Shop.   image_3image_5image_4image_7image_6image_8image_2image_1

Black, White and Spunk

Happy Friday darlings!!

We all know the good ole’ black and white combo is a classic and timeless look, but once in a while you gotta throw in a little spunk!   I’m pretty sure you’ve all figured out by now that one of my favorite methods of adding some spunk to an ensemble is the use of leopard print!  Not only is leopard print stylish and eye-catching, but for me, wearing leopard print comes along with an added boost of confidence (and I know I can’t be the only one).

If you read my blog then you know that I have been salivating over this Kate Spade 2 Park Avenue Beau Bag in Leopard for quite some time now and somehow the planets aligned, the moon and the stars came together and made it happen for me (and by planets, moons and stars I mean sales, added discounts and gift certificates)!  The leopard print version is virtually sold out just about everywhere, but it is still available in a variety of other colors and sizes (here).

Oh my Beau, how I love thee!! Expect to see a lot more of my Beau here on Sun Fun Fashion!

I hope you all have a magical weekend!  Thank you for stopping by!

Sky and Calyann’s New Beginning

So if you’ve stopped by lately then you already know that Mondays are normally dedicated to What I Wore: Weekend Fashion Wrap. However, although I fully intend on sharing what I wore with you, today’s post is dedicated to an event I attended this past Saturday which merits it own blog post!

It was an evening full of surprises at Sky Watson and Calyann Barnett’s baby shower! It all began upon arrival at the unique and romantic photo studio/ event space located in Little Haiti. As you approach the entrance, you think you’re walking into your typical empty warehouse turned venue with four walls and a dance floor. Needless to say, this was not the case. Upon entry guests were directed to the outdoor area of the studio where tables covered with beautiful satin, cream-colored linens were set over a beach sand floor, yes sand. Surprise number one, you have been transported to a sandy beach in the Caribbean.

The guest tables were surrounded by elegant gold, silver and clear Lucite chairs and topped with individually unique centerpieces made with an array of romantic candles, white hydrangeas and crystal trees with hanging bubble terrariums. There were two gazebos beautifully draped in white flowing fabric and crystal chandeliers, one where the jaw-dropping six layer cake (plus 5 mini cakes and dessert shooters) were placed and the other hosting the main table where the fab soon- to- be parents were seated. Dinner was a delicious buffet of Caribbean fare including various curried meats, Jamaican rice, roti and macaroni pie just to name a few dishes. There was a DJ and photo booth fully stocked with a variety of props, including Calyann’s favorite – elaborate headpieces.

Surprise number two was unveiled after dinner underneath a beautiful banyan tree, perfectly lit and dripping with strands of crystals where Sky and Calyann proceeded to perform their commitment ceremony. Witnessing the exchange of commitments and union of two (soon to be three) people who genuinely love, enjoy and inspire each other is such a fulfilling and magical experience. I was honored to be a part of it.

The final surprise of the night came at the time of the cake cutting as Sky and Calyann cut into the monumental cake to reveal the BLUE colored inside-indicating that a baby Prince (pun intended) is on his way!! Sky and Calyann have decided to name their little bundle of joy Prince (love it) and considering Calyann’s position as one of the top fashion stylists in the world right now, I put money on Prince being the best-dressed little man on this planet. Watch out Alonso Mateo!! Lol!

Thank you Sky and Calyann for putting together such a beautiful and emotional celebration, it was such an honor to celebrate with you and your families. Can’t wait to meet the little Prince!

Fancy Wednesday

Welcome to Sun Fun Fashion’s new weekly feature “Fancy Wednesday” where I will share with you items that are currently “striking my fancy”, hence the name “Fancy Wednesday.”

Although I’m sure most of my “Fancy Wednesday” posts will likely consist of 10+ items (hey, I’m fashion obsessed) today’s post is solely dedicated to my (current) one true heart’s desire- Kate Spade’s new 2 Park Avenue Beau Bag.

My boyfriend (and closet space) would say I need another purse like I need a hole in my head, but as far as I know, a woman can never have too many purses! Especially, when there are purses like “The Beau”! From it’s beautiful, classic and structured shape to its delicate bow detail, this purse has me weak in the knees with “That can’t eat, can’t sleep, reach for the stars over the fence, world series kind of love.” Obssessive? Perhaps, but can you blame me? This beauty comes in a variety of colors, but if i had to choose between the black/leopard/macchiato  and vivid snapdragon/maraschino (pictured below) I would be forced to flip a coin.

Which would you choose?

Wild at Heart

I hope you’re all having a lovely Valentine’s Day and spending it with someone dear to your soul, whether they are a parent, child, pet or lover! I personally don’t celebrate Valentine’s just because I feel like it’s a commercial holiday created to pressure people into buying ridiculously priced “tokens of affection.” I believe ANY day you receive the love of another is a blessing and a gift. However, this does not mean that I won’t dress for the occasion!

Today’s look is called “Wild at Heart” and basically it expresses my belief that fashion, like love, has no boundaries. The unexpected marriage of the leopard and heart prints create an ultra-chic and feminine look. The key to mixing prints is to create an abstract yet scaled look using colors that will help blend the prints. The key word is SCALE- once you have a large, bold print, be sure to pair it with a smaller, less dominant print. Two prints of equal scale will give your ensemble an overwhelming appearance that can be shocking to the eye. Go ahead! Mix your stripes with florals, your florals with leopards and your leopards with hearts, stars or polka-dots. I would not recommend mixing more than two prints at a time though, I believe mixing prints is like LOVE in that you can only really be in LOVE (mix) with one person (print) at a time. What’s your take on mixing prints? Love it or Hate it? Spill your heart out….Let me know what you think. Thanks for stopping by…. Muuuah!
