Every woman has at least one garment that she just can’t seem to let go of. For me, the black and white wool skirt you’ll see below is one of those pieces. I actually rescued this skirt from one of my best friends “time to let go” piles and now, 5 years later, I am still a proud foster mama to this classic piece of clothing.
You may wonder, “what makes parting with this skirt so difficult?” Well, for me it’s two simple things:
For one, the skirts “Houndstooth” print is a classic duotone pattern that is fashionably recycled just about every fall/winter season including now in 2012. Whether its Chanel, Ferragamo, Rachel Roy or Alexander McQueen, fashion designers of all generations love bringing the good ole Houndstooth back to life.
I also can’t seem to let go of this skirt because of it’s femininity and playfulness. There is something about its flirtatious bounce that can elicit any woman’s inner Marilyn, which is exactly what inspired me to pair it with this astonishing Marilyn Monroe T-shirt, a gift from my little sister’s stop in Amsterdam on her 2012 Euro-Trip ←– (which explains the huge “cigar” in her pouty, hot pink lips).
