The Struggle

I think any woman who currently is, or has ever been pregnant would agree that the first trimester of pregnancy can best be described as “The Struggle”.  The struggle to come to terms with the enormous change your life is about to undergo; the struggle to not worry yourself sick about the delicate life you carry inside; the struggle to not eat everything in sight, together with the struggle to keep it all down; the struggle to stay awake after lunch and the struggle to get dressed every morning, just to name a few.

During the second and third month of pregnancy the struggle to fit into your pre-pregnancy pants gets real!  Not ready to give into maternity pants just yet, you seek solace in using the good ole’ hair tie trickbelly band and a heavy rotation of leggings.  By month four you’re sick of struggling with hair ties and your leggings are pretty much worn out and begging to be retired! Enter maternity pants!

I recently gave into my need for comfort and style and purchased these Twill Skinny Leg Maternity Pants by MOTHERHOOD Maternity in both khaki and navy and my bump couldn’t be happier!  Not only is the twill material comfortable, but its a considerably chic upgrade from cotton leggings. I also love the versatile ankle length which can be worn with heels on days I’m feeling invincible, or flats on days when “the struggle is real”.

I am so happy to be back here on Sun Fun Fashion and I really hope you all will follow along and enjoy this life and wardrobe altering journey through maternity with me!  Thanks for stopping by!

Work Style Wednesday: Muumuu(ish)

If I had to pick one dress to wear for the rest of my life, it would be this H&M Hi-Low A-Line dress right here. The only thing that disappoints me about this dress is that it was not manufactured in every single color and print known to man.

Sure, its shape could be compared to that of the Muumuu, but its fun and airy vibe is simply perfect for spring! Besides, don’t be so closed-minded, this muumuu er dress (and this one too) can bring sexy back real quick, simply by adding a chunky belt creating a more cinched, flirty look.  I paired my fun and flowy muumuu with my new obsessions, my Yves Saint Laurent Tribute T-Strap Sandals; a hard earned gift to myself for kicking ass at work.

Speaking of work!! It’s Work Style Wednesday and I can’t wait for my dose of work style inspiration!

Work Style Wednesday: Exaggerated A-Line Dress

On an impromptu visit to one of my favorite Coral Gables boutiques, Isa Boutique, I came across this “exaggerated” A-line dress. An A-Line dress is a dress that is fitted at the shoulders and chest and gradually widens towards the waist and hem, giving the impression of the shape of a capital letter A.

However, the (not so) little A-line dress you see below not only widens towards the bottom, but also contains an excess (in a good way) of fabric towards the back and bottom creating the illusion of a train. Hence the term “exaggerated”. I love the free flowing, whimsical feel of this dress, the excess fabric in the back makes me feel like a super hero with a cape! You know, the type of super hero that twirls around in chunky mules and a structured handbag full of tricks!

Keep an eye out for this “exaggerated” trend. Since my recent purchase of this dress I have stumbled across numerous stores and sites carrying similar styles, a few of which I have provided for you below!

P.S. It’s Wednesday! Don’t forget to tune into my Work Style Wednesday Blogger Link up and see what promotion worthy looks this week’s participants have put together!

How to Make Your Lover “Blush” This Valentines Day

Oh, February….The month of LOVE! If you’ve stopped by the blog lately and/or follow me on IG, you’ve probably noticed that my love affair with the color “Blush” is hot and heavy! For as long as I can remember, I have always been an admirer of virtually any shade of pink; and although I still find flamingo pink and hot pink simply irresistible, “Blush” seems a more appropriate approach for the maturer pink lover in me.  My favorite way to describe the color “Blush” is: “Pink with a hint of vintage”. And you all know I love just about anything that can be classified under vintage!

Speaking of LOVE, Valentines Day is right around the corner and this year, instead of going for the cliche “LRD” (Little Red Dress), how about going for an “LBD”? Now every fashionista knows that “LBD” is actually the acronym for “Little Black Dress”, but for the sake of this post “LBD” will be defined as “Little Blush Dress”!

Regardless of whether you go for an “LBD” or an “LRD” fishnet stockings are a sure fire way of making your honey “blush” (pun totally intended) this Valentines Day.  And if you can get your hands on a fishnet or lace bodystocking to wear under your “LBD” or “LRD”, well, just be sure to have rag ready to wipe the drool off your Valentines face.

I’ll be sharing more Valentines Day inspired looks throughout the next two weeks, so stay tuned!

Sweater Weather

Although I consider myself an enemy of the cold, I have to admit I have been thoroughly enjoying this recent Miami “Sweater Weather”.  I just LOVE this cozy, fringe, knitted sweater I got from H&M back in August of 2013!  The fringe detail adds a fun twist to an otherwise “granny” type sweater.  In an effort to further steer clear of any type of “granny” comparison, I added a bit more funk by pairing it with some funky, chunky leopard print pumps!  VOILA! Comfy yet funky.  WIN in my fashion book!

By the way, just as I anticipated (here) and (here), FRINGE is expected to be HUGE for Spring 2014 Fashion!  So go ahead- embrace your inner Pocahontas and have fun with FRINGE in 2014!

P.S. I am currently working on a post that will feature my top rated trends for 2014, including FRINGE so stay tuned and thank you for stopping by!

Razzle Tassel

First and foremost, HAPPY FRIDAY!! I am so excited for the weekend!  No major plans yet, but tonight I am going to happy hour with one of my beautiful cousins at Tobacco Road to celebrate their 101 year anniversary! To those of you who are not from Miami, Tobacco Road is one of the top and longest running bars in Miami offering great food and live music every night! What are your happy hour/ weekend plans?

A few months ago and prior to my trip to California I became obsessed with all things FRINGE!! Dingly, dangly, sexy swinging fringe! It’s fun, it’s fierce and I just love the way it sways with the movement of your body!  Tassels are a type of fringe (in twisted form) and today’s look is all “Razzle Tassel,” from my new favorite necklace, the Bianca Tassel Necklace by Stella & Dot, to my fringe detail, ankle cuff stiletto by MIA Shoes.

This uber comfy sweater dress was a great find at the H & M in Union Square in San Francisco and I just love the sexy, peek-a-boo crochet detail on each side! Comfy and sexy! What more can a girl ask for?

White, Black and Jacquard

Today’s look is one of my favorites so far on Sun Fun Fashion! This cobalt blue, jacquard, A-line skirt from Zara is a true statement thread. Jacquard is a texturally rich and visually luxurious fabric named after the Jacquard loom on which it is woven. The Jacquard loom is a mechanical loom, invented by Joseph Marie Jacquard, that simplifies the process of manufacturing textiles with complex patterns. Peep the subtle faux leather waistband enhancing this elegant skirt with a dash of edge. I just love it! It seriously makes me feel like a million bucks!

What do you think?
What makes you feel elegant and luxurious?

I wish you all a happy Friday and hope you all have a magical weekend!

Wild Wild West

Hey everyone!  Hope you all had a lovely weekend!  I am so way behind on my blogging I feel like I am going to explode from the overload of posts I have planned for the near future!  As you all know I was recently in California on vacation and saying that I fell in love with the Golden State is an understatement-(blog post coming soon).

What I find most rewarding about traveling is the learning, influence and enrichment of different cultures and styles.  California is abundant with a variety of different races, cultures and customs, but when I think of California (not sure why) the first thing that always comes to mind is the Wild, Wild, West.  With this theme in mind, my outfit choices for California were pretty heavy on western influenced trends such as tribal prints, suede, denim and fringe…..lots of fringe!  Fringe is my new black, I am obsessed!

I wore this outfit in California but didn’t take the time to memorialize it with pictures (I must have been having too much fun) so I decided to wear it again this past Saturday in Miami for a little shopping in Midtown and a birthday celebration! More looks from my trip to California coming soon. What do you think of this one?
