{Not So} Basic

My personal style can be defined as a mixture of adjectives, but BASIC is not likely one of them.  Not that there is anything wrong with basic.  On the contrary, while flipping through glossies I consistently drool over fuss free, crisp style, but for some reason when it comes to my personal style, I perpetually feel the need for a pop of color, a print, a statement piece, ANYTHING to steer clear of basic.

I found this crisp and modern, white shirt-dress at Marshalls and thought it would be fun to go out of my comfort zone and shock everyone by going BASIC.  I originally intended on black, single ankle strap sandals, minimal accessories and a simple black clutch.  Well, as you can see I did manage to keep the accessories and clutch down to a minimum, but when it came time for the shoes…. I gave into the madness! I went for these sky-high, red leopard print pumps which took my originally intended “basic look” to well, {Not So} Basic.

Am I afraid of basic? No. I couldn’t be!  Am I “Basically Challenged”?  Quite possibly.  Hmmm, sounds like a challenge! My mission: To wear this same dress in the simplest, most uncomplicated (yet stylish) fashion. Stay tuned for Sun Fun Fashion’s BASIC Style Challenge.

While we are on the subject of BASIC, if you have never heard of LOHANTHONY and his announcement , you can thank me in comments below for introducing him.  I find this kid sooooo hilarious! Check him out!

** Disclaimer** The views and opinions expressed in the Lohanthony video above had absolutely no influence on my fear of basic.

Holiday Treasure Chest

Hey guys! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I had a magical 4 day weekend abundant with the love of family and friends, great food and absolutely incredible weather!  I love this time of year in Miami.  I love this time of the year period! It’s the holidays!!!

Just in time for the holidays and to add to the madness that was Black Friday and Cyber Monday…..I would like to announce Sun Fun Fashion’s Treasure Chest! Treasure Chest is your chance to shop my closet for gorgeous, lightly worn items at great deal prices.  All the items for sale have been worn once or twice (max) and in my opinion are truly worthy of a fashion encore.  Truth be told, the reason I was so hesitant to unveil Treasure Chest was actually coming to the decision of letting go of these much adored garments. Although I donate clothing to charities and Goodwill all the time, the items I select for Treasure Chest are items that- One: I would happily keep forever, but simply do not (currently) have space for; and Two: I, myself would happily purchase from a vintage or consignment shop.

The true beauty of shopping Treasure Chest, or any consignment shop is the opportunity to find really great and carefully selected clothes for a very low price. Although sizing can very often be  limited, never forget the need and importance of knowing a good tailor.  Tailoring and customization is a big part of achieving the perfect look, and paying less for a fantastic dress makes the cost of tailoring more affordable.

Below is a preview of the items currently on Sun Fun Fashion’s Treasure Chest,  how I wore them and some ideas on how you can rock them!
