Art Basel 2014: Spectrum Art Show

I wouldn’t go as far as saying “I Baseled” this year, but I did manage to score VIP passes to the Spectrum Miami Art Exhibit courtesy of Coastaberre, a local trunk show, shopping party and pop- up boutique I met at October’s Fashion Happy Hour! My boyfriend and I had a great night at the Spectrum show and later stopped at a few other galleries on our way to KUSH where we enjoyed dinner and drinks!

One of my favorite parts about Art Basel has always been picking my outfits for all the shows and events. Then again, picking out my outfit is my favorite part about pretty much everything. I wanted my Basel look to be modern, minimal and as usual, a bit edgy. I went with my favorite LBD of the moment (seen before here) and added this snake print jacket with cut out back detail. You know I can’t resist to pop some color into the mix, so I chose oxblood for my booties, lips and accessories!

I have an admission to make…. I did an awful job at packing for my recent past trip to Los Angeles! Aside from the outfits, accessories and essentials for the actual FABB conference, I neglected to pack just about everything else!  I had no pajamas, no flip flops and only one extra T-shirt (the one you see below).  Considering the desperate and deficient circumstances in which the outfit below came to be, I had no intention of photographing this outfit.  However, after the Lucky FABB Networking Brunch, my boyfriend and I decided to take a stroll around L.A. and head to the Farmers Market for a late lunch and we came across this gorgeous mural on the side wall of a gas station and I just couldn’t resist snapping a few pics!

Wanna know what’s tickling my fancy? ART BASEL!!

For those of you who don’t know, Art Basel is an annual celebration taking place the first week of December dedicated to embracing the world of modern and contemporary art. Artists and galleries from around the world take over South Beach, Wynwood, the Design District, Brickell, Midtown, and virtually all of Miami with special parties and exhibitions at museums and galleries across the city!
Last year I attended a Basel event at the Del Toro Shoes Miami headquarters wherein select local and international artists showcased one of kind hand painted Del Toro shoes (including my incredibly talented friend and notable Miami artist, ATOMIK).

I also attended the ART Miami Exhibit in Wynwood! Here are a few of my favorite pieces…

As for BASEL 2013… The Miami New Times has put together a pretty complete guide to this years exhibitions and happenings. Check it out here.

Join me this evening (Wednesday, December 4, 2013 for Fashion Meets Arts by Cristy Rice of Cuban Rice Swimwear (and former Real Houswife of Miami) at Nikko in Brickell from 6-9 p.m.

Cuban Rice

Thursday Ill be at UGG Miami for an event with artist Stephen Gamson benefiting Miami Children’s Hospital.

As for the weekend… I am looking forward to finally beholding the very much anticipated Perez Art Museum Miami. Architecture meets art and nature in this breathtaking building designed by world renowned architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron. PAMM will house international art of the 20th and 21st centuries all the while offering views of the Magic City and bay.  PAMM will likely become one of my favorite places in Miami!

HAPPY BASELING MIAMI!! Thanks for stopping by!
